Job description

Founded in 1829, King’s College London is an internationally renowned research-intensive university in the heart of London, dedicated to driving positive and sustainable change in society and realising our vision of making the world a better place.

Kings has over 40,000 students from some 150 countries, and over 10,000 employees and our network spans pioneering thinkers across all sectors, from policymakers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and scientists, to name just a few.  With nine diverse faculties, King’s offers a dynamic home for our staff and students. It is an exciting time to join us as we make a number of transformative investments in line with Vision 2029 and Strategy 2026, which brings a sharper focus to our efforts to scale up research, education, UK and global partnerships, philanthropy and impact in sustainability.

The Director of Communications is a member of the Principal’s Management Team and the University Executive, actively contributing to the direction and delivery of strategic priorities and the enhancement of our reputation both internally and externally. Working in partnership with senior stakeholders on all strategic communications, external relations, brand and reputation matters, the Director of Communications will play a crucial role in helping to shape the university’s future.

We are searching for an inclusive and engaging leader with significant experience in developing multi-channel communications strategies, and in public affairs. The Director of Communications will lead an award-winning central team working collaboratively across the university in a fast-paced and sometimes reactive environment. You will have worked in a large and complex environment and have the skills and motivation to drive change whilst building collegiate relationships across all stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to King’s principles and values, particularly around equality, diversity and inclusion.
