About the role
We are a small and successful team looking to recruit an individual to teach Art and Design, at our Leek campus. You will need to hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 teaching qualification.
Our tutors need to be adaptable, creative and resourceful and will benefit from working in a enthusiastic rapidly growing department with other professionals using industry standard facilities and resources.
Our students have access to industry standard facilities, comprehensive support services and benefit from extensive links with the University of Derby and other local higher education establishments.
Buxton and Leek College was recently graded as a “Good” college by OFSTED and has a team of dedicated staff who take pride in supporting learners towards their study and career goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team on our journey to becoming an outstanding provider.
This is an hourly paid position. Actual hours and days will be described in a ‘Schedule of Work’.

- Any relevant meetings associated with internal and/or external periodic scrutiny (e.g. OFSTED)

Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- Hold or be willing to undertake a Level 3 teaching qualification e.g. Certificate in Education
- Level 2 Qualifications (either in Functional Skills or GCSE A-C) in both English and maths or a willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale
- Relevant vocational qualification
Experience
- Demonstrable evidence of ability to engage with learners to support high quality learning outcomes
Skills, knowledge & abilities
- Highly developed communication skills
- Ability to use own initiative
- Ability to work effectively on your own and with a small team
- Well-developed administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to work flexibly within a team
- Good time management skills
Business requirements
- Completed DBS check with child barred list
- Prohibited from Teaching check
- A commitment to the principle of widening participation
