Are you looking to start a new and exciting career in Finance? We have an opening for a Finance Apprentice to join the Nuffield Department of Medicine Finance Shared Service Centre, working with the friendly and hard-working team to deliver an excellent level of service to internal customers whilst ensuring financial policy and controls are adhered to. You will support the team and foster a “right first time” culture whilst looking to improve efficiency and striving for continuous improvement.

You will join the team, based at Old Road Campus, for 2 years enrolling in a Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting Apprenticeship, delivered by Abingdon & Witney College. College attendance and successful completion of both the L2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting and L3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is an essential requirement of this Apprenticeship.

You will support the Purchasing function by raising and reviewing requisitions upon Oracle financials system, and you will support the Accounts Payable function by learning to process supplier invoices and credit notes in the Oracle financials system and deal with anomalies, escalating any complex queries to the Accounts Payable Officer/Supervisor. You will be responsible for assisting with reviewing the “invoices on hold” & “incomplete invoices” reports to ensure supplier disputes or internal queries are resolved prior to payment due dates. Other duties will include maintaining accurate and complete accounting records for audit purposes including opening post, scanning, filing, and archiving, as well as assisting in reviewing and preparing the new supplier requests for both PO and non-PO transactions, monitored with colleagues in the Central Finance Division.

To complete the level 3 apprenticeship, you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. Please note that regardless of your prior qualifications, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.

Interviews are to be held in the week commencing 4 December 2023.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 2 years and is funded by the Department. You will need to be in post by 8 January 2024, to start the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship training.
