Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Global Health Administrator to work with Professor the Lord Ara Darzi.

Professor Darzi is Co-Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London and Paul Hamlyn Chair of Surgery. He is a Consultant Surgeon at Imperial College NHS Trust and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Professor Darzi is Chair of the NHS Accelerated Access Collaborative and Chair for the Pre-emptive Health & Medicine Initiative at Flagship Pioneering UK.

He is also Chair of the Fleming Initiative, a collaboration between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London to build The Fleming Centre , which will drive a global movement to tackle antimicrobial resistance.  

You will support the Executive Assistant (EA) to Professor Darzi with a focus on global health related work.  Both posts are responsible for providing seamless support for his clinical, academic, research and post-ministerial roles. Your role will involve liaison with all levels of correspondents including senior UK and worldwide government offices as well as academic and research staff, patients and clinicians.  The role will cover support for diary scheduling and all associated supporting work as well as project administration work. Efficiency and confidentiality are essential requisites for this post.

Duties and responsibilities

You will work closely with Professor Darzi and his core IGHI team together with senior staff and Faculty across the College to manage his diary and act as a primary point of contact within his busy Private Office, ensuring the smooth and professional running of a diverse range of activities and administrative tasks.

You will be involved in supporting internal and externally run events, speaking engagements, including liaison with external bodies, organising travel and accommodation and the timely processing of expense claims.

You will be responsible for drafting correspondence and overseeing the management of the data and filing systems for all aspects of his private office (e.g., clinical, academic, House of Lords, international).

Essential requirements

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will be self-motivated and able to prioritise and manage a varied and busy workload, operating both individually and as part of a wider team.

Excellent IT skills will be required including a good knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel and evidence of some administration work would be helpful.
