About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to project manage the prestigious NIHR funded Global Health Research Centre for Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTCs) working with the researchers, community champions, research assistants and other staff to coordinate the work of the Global Health Centre and assist in planning and organisation of work programmes:
The £9.7M Global Health Research Centre is co-led by the University of Leicester and the Public Health Foundation of India, with multiple collaborating institutions across the UK, India and Nepal. The two primary aims of the Centre are to:
i. Improve care for people living with MLTCs in India and Nepal by designing and delivering an innovative intervention that uses simple technologies and promotes patient equity to improve care
ii.Strengthen national health research systems by building capacity in the workforce and creating networks of both MLTC researchers and key stakeholders.
In this role you will be responsible for managing the Centre’s activities, including but not limited to supporting international exchanges between the participating nations, such as facilitating students and staff from India and Nepal to complete studentships and short-term placements at the University of Leicester. You will also track the progress of the centre’s research and capacity strengthening activities to ensure timelines are met and identify areas of improvement.
As the Global Health Centre Manager, you will work closely with Professor Kamlesh Khunti (Centre co-lead, University of Leicester) and Professor Dorairaj Prabhakaran (Centre co-lead, Public Health Foundation of India). You will be expected to work independently but also as part of a wider team involving a wide variety of stakeholders locally and internationally. You will be based at the Leicester General Hospital and will work closely with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust senior management; University of Leicester Research Enterprise Division; and NHS clinical and academic staff across UK and international institutions.
About you
We are looking for a highly organised individual with senior administrative or managerial experience who is experienced in managing and coordinating research projects within either a University or healthcare environment and who has previously worked with international colleagues or in international collaborations. To excel in this role you must be strong communicator, able to work effectively with researchers, healthcare workers and members of the community as well as be highly organised, and have knowledge of managing programme funding and reporting expenditure.
