The City of Edinburgh Council has been developing the ‘Edinburgh 2050 Thriving Greenspaces’
vision and strategy for the city’s public parks and greenspaces. This work has been undertaken
as part of the Thriving Green Spaces project which has been funded by the National Heritage
Lottery Fund and the National Trust ‘Future Park’s Accelerator’ grant programme.

We are now at an exciting stage where we are ready to start delivering the strategy. This role
will take a lead in delivering a programme of projects, which for the next 18 months will be
aimed at improving our parks and greenspaces with a focus on safety, access, visitor
experience, climate change and provision of facilities such as cafes, toilets and car parking.

The successful candidate will join a small and dedicated team who are focussed on improving our
parks for both people and nature. You will play an important role in shaping the future of the
City’s parks and greenspaces and will be instrumental in realising the ambitions of the
citizens of Edinburgh.

You will need to work with colleagues, partners and communities to deliver these projects, and
will be experienced navigating local authority processes including procurement, report writing
and committee approval. Experience in developing successful funding bids, project management,
delivering greenspaces capital projects and community participation will be essential in this
role. You will need drive, energy and focus to manage your workloads while working within tight
timelines.

This post is funded until 31 May 2025 and while new opportunities for permanent roles may be
created as part of a current service review, the successful candidate will be required to work
with the team to identify and secure funding to extend this role post-May 2025.

The salary package is enhanced by a minimum of 32 days leave per year rising to a maximum of 40
days per year dependant on continuous service, generous employer pension contributions and
numerous employee benefits, such as Green Car scheme, Cycle to work, Lifestyle savings and Gym
membership.

We’re committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and
able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with
different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it
reaches the top of the range.
