We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support our Biomedical Scientists. This role offers the opportunity to work within a busy and friendly laboratory, supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services to surrounding healthcare providers.The Haematology Department at King’s Mill Hospital plays a crucial role in providing analytical, diagnostic, interpretative, and consultative services to hospitals, clinics, and GP practices.As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for undertaking basic laboratory tasks essential for the smooth operation of the Haematology department. • Keyboard skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Good level of numeracy and literacy

• Familiar with modern IT systems.

QualificationsEssential

• NVQ 3 in Clinical Laboratory Support (or pending successful completion).
• Equivalent knowledge and experience

Further TrainingEssential

• The post holder will receive in-service training in Haematology analytical procedures and processes as appropriate

ExperienceEssential

• Previous laboratory experience

Desirable

• Substantial time as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 2) during which time an all round knowledge and some specialist skills have been developed

ContractualEssential

• Participates in weekday, weekend and bank holiday rotas as required.
