Your Responsibilities

What you’ll do

You will have a key senior leadership role within Estates, Facilities & Capital Development (EFCD), responsible for the operational and strategic development of compliance across EFCD services and supporting the EFCD Directors to effectively manage risk and develop their services to ensure compliance with NHS targets and guidance as required by UHS FT.

You will provide inspirational leadership to a diverse team, with responsibility for compliance, property management, business support and service improvement. You will ensure effective communication and manage performance against key performance targets and strategic objectives.

You will take responsibility for the management of EFCD risk, ensuring management awareness, documentation and control systems are in place. You will work with professional leads across EFCD/UHS to ensure that the Trust can evidence its compliance with national policies and standards, acting as the professional lead for UHS on complex statutory advice and performance, producing in conjunction with the other advisors, reports, documentation, and guidance required for use within the business.

You will hold responsibility for audit functions associated with the estate and develop reports on such functions as may be required to satisfy the Board Assurance Framework including water safety, fire safety, asbestos management, medical gas systems, ventilation systems, electrical systems, lift systems. produce action plans and monitor progress with targets and compliance.

What we’re looking for

You will be educated to master’s level in a relevant discipline, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of skill and experience at a senior level in health and safety and risk management in a large multidisciplinary organisation. Your experience will include incident reporting and investigation, risk assessment, health & safety methodologies and fire safety.

You will have leadership experience and excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills. You will be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team of diverse professionals, able to manage competing priorities and support and motivate your team to deliver to tight deadlines.

With a technical background, you will be able to interpret complex data or drawings, assess legal compliance and deliver both detailed and summary technical reports.

UHS operates 24/7 and following training you will join the Senior Manager on-call service, which operates on a rota to ensure senior support is available to on-site colleagues in the event of an issue.
