About this role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join the Finance Department management team based at our Chichester campus. The Finance Department aims to provide services that allow the University to meet its statutory financial obligations and internal financial management objectives in a cost efficient, professional and timely manner. Please note our financial year is from 1st August to 31st July.
The post is responsible for the production and leadership of the annual statutory accounts and financial statements (both consolidated and for the University subsidiary), cashflow management and forecasting, bank covenant reporting, treasury management, taxation, asset recording and reporting, and will oversee the operational finance services of payroll and finance systems.
Supporting the Director of Finance, you will work closely with internal and external auditors, regulators and key stakeholders in delivering high-quality information within deadlines and adhering to statutory compliance requirements. You will provide professional leadership and technical expertise, ensuring robust financial controls are adhered to.
You will be required to provide financial information and scenario modelling for strategic University projects and report your findings to the relevant committee. It is expected you will deputise for the Director of Finance as required, including representation at senior management level meetings.
About you
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and the ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team as the Head of Financial control. The successful candidate will have the relevant professional qualification and extensive professional experience at this level in a similar role. You will have an ability to quickly build effective working relationships, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be self-motivated, with a proactive attitude and experience of leading and motivating a team.
