Leicester based with hybrid working£80-100K + £7,800 car allowance + up to 30% bonus + benefitsPurposeThis senior leadership role is responsible for defining, implementing, and leading Health and Safety strategy across over 300 retail, warehousing, and logistics sites. We are looking for someone to promote a positive safety culture, minimise risk, ensure compliance, and enhance safety standards throughout the organisation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of engaging with board-level, executive, senior leadership, management, and operational stakeholders across a national, multi-site business.Strategy & Planning

  • Define and continuously improve Health & Safety standards and culture.
  • Develop and deliver a long-term Health & Safety strategy.
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance to direct reports and wider teams.
  • Oversee risk assessment frameworks and audit systems.
  • Influence and collaborate with senior leaders on Health & Safety priorities.
  • Promote continuous improvement and learning in Health & Safety practices.

People & Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of four, while providing wider business leadership.
  • Foster a safety-first mindset across the organisation.
  • Plan succession and talent development.

Financial & Commercial

  • Manage the Health & Safety budget.
  • Deliver value for money through third-party suppliers and services.
  • Operate within budget parameters and align financial planning with business objectives.

Risk & Operational Processes

  • Identify and mitigate workplace health & safety and fire safety risks.
  • Lead training initiatives and ensure up-to-date Health & Safety provisions.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of construction, refurbishment, contractor management, and manual handling procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Health & Safety leadership experience, ideally in retail or logistics.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) and NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver compliant H&S systems and processes.
  • Contract and supplier management experience.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Commercially aware, with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
