Join IWM as Head of Movement and Storage!Lead our Collections Care department in managing the team responsible for the storage and transit of collections across all IWM branches. This role is crucial to the success of our Collections Care work, public programme, access requirements, commercial activities, learning events, and Masterplan projects. You will collaborate with collections professionals and build strong relationships with colleagues in Estates, Projects and Sustainability, and Operations to represent the needs of the collection.Key Responsibilities:– Compile and maintain data on dynamic factors affecting our storage needs, such as collections development, preservation information, legislative changes, masterplanning requirements, and sustainability targets.
– Oversee hazardous and licensed collections, ensuring compliance and regular checks.
– Collaborate with Collections Management to contribute to the development of museum plans and policies.
– Work closely with Conservation, Preservation, and Visual Resources to streamline workflows.The ideal Head of Movement & Storage candidate will have a background in Collections Care and knowledge of Collections Management best practices, including managing risks associated with materials like asbestos, drugs, firearms, human tissue, and radioactivity.
