We’ve been engaged by a specialist mechanical engineering manufacturer to recruit a Health and Safety Supervisor. The organisation have a wide and varied marine and industrial customer base, and this role is focused on the Health, Safety and Environment across their key manufacturing site in Essex (with some travel to clients in London). The role will report into the Operations Manager and will help to drive a positive Health and Safety culture across the site.Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Supervisor will include:

• Supporting the Operations Manager to ensure the site is compliant with UK legislation and in line with the overall UK strategy for Health, Safety and Environment.
• Engaging with members of staff at all levels across the site to improve awareness and commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
• Managing a regular audit and inspection programme, assessing Health, Safety and Environment performance and identifying any areas of improvement.
• Engaging with key internal and external stakeholders including contractors, regulators, and enforcement agencies as required.

The successful Health and Safety Supervisor will have:

• Proven experience in a similar Health, Safety and Environment role, ideally from within a manufacturing, fabrication, chemical or heavy industrial environment
• NEBOSH Certificate (as minimum), ideally membership of a relevant body (e.g., IOSH)
• A good technical knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
