We’re proud of our collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking community, housed in one of the most modern facilities in West Cambridge.As Departmental Health and Safety Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our department remains a safe and compliant space for innovation and discovery. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you’ll provide expert guidance on general, laser, biological, and chemical safety, supporting a diverse community of around 30 academic staff, 60 professional services staff, 80 postdoctoral researchers, and 150 postgraduate students.Key responsibilities include:

The successful applicant will be educated to a post-graduate degree level or equivalent, having significant experience working within a research environment. They will have demonstrable knowledge of health and safety regulations, including practical experience in managing all aspects of H&S, experience in delivering training and an understanding of how to successfully merge good safety practices with good research.
