Start Date: September 2025A highly reputable and forward-thinking secondary school in Essex is seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Humanities to join their vibrant and supportive team from September 2025. This is a permanent, full-time position, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well-established department within a school renowned for academic excellence and pastoral care.About the Role:The successful candidate will be expected to deliver engaging and challenging lessons across the Humanities subjects, with the ability to teach History, Geography, or Religious Studies at Key Stages 3 and 4. There may also be opportunities to teach at Key Stage 5, depending on the candidate’s specialism and experience. The school fosters a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and creativity in teaching.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in Humanities subjects.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and department resources.
  • Support students’ wider personal development through extra-curricular opportunities and pastoral guidance.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the school to support student achievement.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant Humanities subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level (including trainee or ECT experience).
  • A strong understanding of current curriculum developments and pedagogy in Humanities education.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, and a proactive attitude towards professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching to A-level.
  • Willingness to contribute to whole-school initiatives and extra-curricular activities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
