Job summary

As Innovation & Entrepreneurship Manager you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Imperial Enterprise Lab’s activities including one-off events, workshops and programmes for our community of enterprising students, recent alumni, and post docs. These may include our well-known flagship initiatives including our women’s entrepreneurship programme, the MedTech SuperConnector, AI SuperConnector, the WE Innovate Programme, Techcelerate and the Venture Catalyst Challenge (VCC).

SuperConnector helps empower early career researchers to translate academic insights from the arts and sciences into early stage medical technologies. Drawing on the innovation expertise of eight leading institutions, its remit is to support technological innovation, advance entrepreneurship education and find new and effective ways to accelerate AI, MedTech and early-stage innovation R&D.

 You will be part of an energetic and passionate team who support the growth of new entrepreneurial ideas from our talented science, engineering, medicine and business students and post docs. This role will allow you to take the lead on a range of activities to support the development of early-stage ideas and their acceleration into commercial ventures.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the operational delivery of the SuperConnector Programmes, and identify, engage and oversee internal and external resources required for their successful delivery
  • Work with the Head of AISC & MTSC to develop coordinated external alumni, corporate and philanthropic engagement to drive an ambitious fundraising strategy. With a view to commercialise or fundraise for the Enterprise Lab Programmes.
  • Manage the planning of an agreed activities budget and deliver them within financial, resource, time and quality parameters and remaining within 10% year on year.
  • You will act as a key point of contact for past, present, and prospective Imperial and SuperConnector students, alumni, post docs and staff, providing a proactive and responsive interface.
  • You will co-manage the pipeline of potential applicants, the selection of programme participants and delivery of programmatic activities.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, taking exceptional care of relevant academic champions at Imperial and partner HEIs and the interests of the programme’s strategic partners, to ensure the highest level of institutional support and the widest possible community supporting activities

Essential requirements

Education

  • A good undergraduate level degree
  • Evidence of appropriate continuous professional development
  • Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience of working in innovation and entrepreneurship support or experience of delivering coaching and mentoring programmes at a level suitable to facilitate credibility and positive relations with staff, post docs, students, alumni and external partners
  • Project management experience at a level conducive to delivering a high-quality education and professional development programme in a world-class institutional setting
  • Experience in ensuring the successful delivery of outputs engaging and directing complex groups of suppliers, colleagues, and collaborators

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong relationship building skills from entry-level student to board level
  • Ability to conceive, plan and own operational delivery strategies over multiple years to deliver near, mid- and longer-term College objectives
  • Well-developed organisation, coordination, and facilitation skills with a strong, independently driven delivery focus
  • Successful at working both in an informal team environment, as well as within a formal structure
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal, to ensure clear and effective contact for a contemporary student and alumni audience, academic and industry partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills capable of quickly building rapport with post docs, staff, students, alumni, and corporate stakeholders
  • Effective listening skills, with the ability to draw out in depth feedback from past, present and prospective AI programme participants, monitor their satisfaction

Further information

This role is full-time and fixed-term for 20 months. This position is hybrid, based at Imperial’s South Kensington & White City campuses.

We strongly believe in continuous professional development, and (travel permitting) there will be the opportunity to attend conferences and take part in external courses.
