Contract DurationInterns are required to work full time for a period between three and six months (to be agreed to prior to commencement). Preference will be given to candidates who are available for six months. Internship placements shall not be extended beyond six months.Organisational ContextThe Office of the Prosecutor investigates and prosecutes genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by nationals of a State Party or on the territory of a State Party on or after 1 July 2002, the date of entry into force of the Rome Statute.The Evidence and Discovery Management Unit (EDMU), located within the Information, Knowledge, Evidence Management Section (IKEMS) of the Office of the Prosecutor, is responsible for all aspects of managing, processing and handling evidence collected during the course of the Office’s investigations. Additionally, EDMU is responsible for handling correspondence received under article 15 of the Rome Statue, either in physical form or via OTP Link.Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the reception, registration, processing and archiving of communications received by the Office of the Prosecutor under article 14 and article 15 of the Rome Statute, as well as referrals of situations from State Parties, or from the United Nations Security Council.
• Conduct an initial review of communications and referrals under article 14 and15 of the Rome Statute.
• provide assistance to the OTP Unified teams and the Preliminary Examination Unit with training and coordination to ensure the review of all incoming information, potential evidence, and evidence material under article 14 and article 15 of the Rome Statute,Perform specific tasks and assist in research as required by the Head of the Unit.
• Assist in conducting technical (IT) legal research related to international criminal law and discovery practices and drafting legal documents, including memos, briefs, and reports, to support ongoing investigations and prosecutions.

Candidates should be aware that as part of their review work they might encounter graphic and sensitive audio/visual material.Required QualificationsEducation:All Candidates must have a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognised university. Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.Experience:Internship placements focus on candidates in the early stages of their professional careers therefore; practical experience is not an essential prerequisite for selection. However, practical experience that is relevant to the work of the Court may be considered an asset. Applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to be considered for an internship.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to adapt to multicultural and multilingual working environments.
• Possesses strong teamwork skills (listens, consults and communicates proactively).
• Has acquired a good standard of computer skills (including Microsoft Office applications).
• Prior experience with eDiscovery in software development is advantageous.

Knowledge of Languages:Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English, is required. Working knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) or of German is an asset.
