DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE

​​SLB develops inflatable packers for the analysis of subsurface characteristics. These products are made of rubber, with metal reinforcements and technicalfibers.

There is currently no finite element modelling solution for these structures.

The aim of this internship is toinitiatethe building of a representative model of an inflatable packer. Theultimate goalis toanticipatethe performance limits of these products, in temperature, pressure, and in the presence of geometric irregularities.

Ultimately, breakage criteria will be integrated into the packer calculation,in order toanticipateproduct failures according to the conditions of use.

This effort should provide tools tosubsequentlymodel any new product, and tooptimizethe number of testsrequiredand their nature for the validation of any new design.

The person will be in contact with the engineering,manufacturingand sustaining team. He/she will have access to a test laboratory to characterize the different components of packers. They will have access to full-scale tests and data from products used in the field

REQUIRED SKILLS

• ​​Master Degree- (Penultimate or Finalyear) ​in​Mechanical engineering​or a related discipline;

• Oral and written communication skills in English;

• Good motivation, autonomy, teamwork, and ingenuity;
