The position

As the Director for IT and Automation, your main role will be to drive IT & Automation in the Filled and Finish (FF) expansion Italy project. You will have a dual reporting line to the Head of local IT & Operational Technology (OT) and Operational Readiness in Denmark as well as the Project Vice President in Italy. You will manage a team of 5 to 6 members directly, and the total team size is 20 to 40 members.

Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

-Oversee IT and automation at the facility, working closely with the expansion site lead and managing project scope, timelines, resources, and budget.
-Build and lead a team of project managers, automation engineers, and IT/OT experts. Maintain close communication with the program team in Denmark to ensure consistency with global standards.
-Identify and reduce risks and challenges, and keep all stakeholders informed and involved throughout the project lifecycle.
-Ensure a smooth handover to operations once the project is complete and report to the Head of Local IT & OT and Operational Readiness. Lead and mentor your project team for success.
-Influence the global IT & Automation leadership team in defining and executing a harmonised approach to execution and transition to operations. Build strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
 

Qualifications

-A bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, engineering, mechanical, electrical, electronics, or similar 10 to 12 years of experience in IT automation and strong experience in managing large-scale and complex projects with a proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams and managing diverse stakeholders.
-Comprehensive understanding of program management methodologies, tools, and techniques (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2). Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks.
-Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze situations, evaluate options, and make sound decisions under pressure. Effective communication skills to convey program objectives, progress, and potential risks to stakeholders.
-Experience in setting up IT and automation in pharmaceutical facilities or other regulated industries. Motivating leadership skills that create results and engagement in your team
-Willingness to relocate to Italy.

About the department
We are looking to expand our global manufacturing footprint in Italy, pending final approval. Once in operation, the facility, located in Italy, will be part of Novo Nordisk’s global network of manufacturing facilities. You will be joining DD&IT PS, our in-house IT & Automation Partner, in our manufacturing area, with 3000+ employees spread across 7+ geographic locations. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approximately 30,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 70,000 employees. This program in Italy is one of the many Capex programs owned by Fill & Finish Expansions, which is also anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT and has a global approach, where you will be working with multiple sites and cultures across the world.
