The University of Nottingham is consistently ranked within the top 3 in the UK for sport, and our sector-leading facilities provide premier training and competition venues for elite sport, physical activity, well-being, and social/recreational sport to some 15,000 members and approximately 1 million visitors per year.

To support this program, we are seeking an experienced IT systems operator to join a small, distributed team in support, maintenance, and development of a group of the University of Nottingham information system products. The role will focus on the sports admissions and bookings system and will provide support to other software products within the department as part of the wider IT team within the Deputy Registrar’s division.

With a proven track record of software systems support, you’ll be a service-oriented professional with working experience of customer-facing solutions and hosted applications and be able to thrive within a high-energy environment managing dynamic priorities.

The successful candidate will lead on system configuration, the identification and implementation of future adaptations and developments to maximize the benefit of systems to stakeholders, provide appropriate management information and reports, staff training, supplier engagement, and preparation of user documentation. The post holder will also support the department’s use of other University and digital platforms as required, including new systems and approaches over time, and will be a key liaison with the Digital and Technological Services Department.

An experienced IT systems user and operator, you will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to provide the best possible outcome for our customers. Adept at planning, implementing testing protocols, creating reports in accordance with agreed performance indicators, creating documentation, and delivering training, you will work with a range of colleagues to review and develop system capabilities and functionality.

Candidates should possess an HND or equivalent experience or certification in ICT or a computer-related discipline and be educated to a minimum of GCSE standard or equivalent, with a good standard of English and Maths. Excellent communication and customer care, presentation, and analytical skills are essential.

Knowledge of working within a sport and leisure environment and working with leisure management IT systems, such as Gladstone MRM or Legend, would be a distinct advantage for this post.

The role is physically based within the Sports Department but will operate across the Deputy Registrar’s Division.

This is a permanent, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Marcus Spain, email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
