We have a great opportunity for a part time landscape architect to join the council’s Natural
Environment Team.
The role includes the ability to work from home for an average of 40% of your working week,
subject to service requirements. and we operate a flexible working arrangement. We are seeking
an experienced landscape architect who is looking to further their career in local government,
and the Job Specification and Person Specification are attached, providing more information.
Your focus will be split between landscape planning and project delivery. One part of the job
involves providing expert landscape advice to colleagues in the Development Management and
Planning Policy Teams in order to help shape current planning applications and future
development within the borough.
In addition, you will be designing and implementing hard and soft landscape improvements to a
range of our sites including parks, open spaces, residential areas and town centre locations,
delivering attractive, well considered schemes that have a positive impact on people’s quality
of life. Managing all aspects of projects from concept to completion, you’ll get involved with
community consultations, concept proposals, detailed designs, tenders and contract
administration of works on site.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside ecologists, tree officers and parks officers,
there will be the opportunity to work closely with these and other officers across the council.
This will give you the chance to share ideas, broaden your knowledge and become our expert in
this area, bringing the latest thinking on current trends and best practice in landscape
architecture.
You will be joining a bold and innovative organisation that has big ambitions for the borough
and for our staff. We do things differently here. We go beyond expectations to nurture and
develop our communities and our colleagues as we shape an exciting future for Basingstoke and
Deane.
A degree or postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture or landscape design is a must,
together with strong communication and project management skills. While experience of community
consultations would be ideal, what really matters is that you are genuinely enthusiastic about
shaping the spaces that people love using.
In return, we’ll provide all the support you need to develop your career with us. There will
also be the possibility of mentoring and opportunities to develop your skills and experience.
