We are now looking for a lead civil and structural engineer to join Liquid Wind and take ownership of the design, engineering, and execution of civil and structural works for our e-Methanol production plants. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering solutions that support the development of sustainable energy infrastructure.The location for this position is in Copenhagen or Gothenburg. There will be some travel within the role. The company language is English, and preferably you understand and speak a Scandinavian language. You will report to the Head of Engineering and Project Management based in Hørsholm, Denmark.About the role
As Lead civil and structural engineer, you will lead the civil and structural design of our facilities, ensuring structural integrity, optimizing plant layouts, and managing external contractors. Your expertise will be key in minimizing risks, optimizing costs, and delivering high-quality solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop constructible, cost-efficient designs while ensuring compliance with industry standards and local regulations. You will contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards and best practices, helping to refine Liquid Wind’s approach to future e-Methanol facilities.You will, among other things:

  • Lead the civil and structural design for e-Methanol plant infrastructure, including foundations, buildings, equipment supports, pipe racks, and roadways.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel and concrete structures, ensuring compliance with seismic regulations and industry standards.
  • Oversee the development of civil site plans, grading, drainage, and underground utilities.
  • Manage engineering consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Review and approve drawings, calculations, and technical specifications from contractors and consultants.
  • Support procurement by evaluating technical bids for civil and structural materials and services.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, Eurocodes, AISC, ACI, ASCE, API 650, and other relevant industry standards.

About you
As Lead Civil and Structural Engineer, you will apply problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and attention to detail to ensure structural integrity, optimize plant layouts, and manage external contractors. Your communication skills will be essential in collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, engaging with permitting authorities, and conducting risk assessments. You will drive continuous improvements in engineering standards while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and delivering cost-efficient, constructible designs.To succeed in this role, you also have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field.
  • You have at least ten years of experience in civil and structural engineering, preferably in industrial plants, chemical, energy, or process industries.
  • Expertise in steel and concrete structures, foundation engineering, and site development.
  • Knowledge of seismic design, wind loads, and dynamic analysis of structures.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards: Eurocodes, ACI, AISC, ASCE, API 650.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and geotechnical evaluations.
