On average 3 days teaching and pastoral support, 1 day admin and 1 day of research/scholarly development both on site and off.Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Design History & Theory, in the Department of Design History & Theory in the School of Design at the Glasgow School of Art.The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is a world leading, independent, university-level institution for the visual creative disciplines. We attract some of the finest academic and creative talent and are committed to creating and sustaining learning and working environments, where difference is respected and the widest possible range of cultural and social perspectives are valued.Design History & Theory works across the School of Design delivering courses for BA (Hons) programmes and postgraduate taught programmes. As a lecturer in this department, you will undertake an appropriate balance of teaching, assessment, course and programme development and related administration across all year groups. This post includes supervision and assessment of final year honours submissions in the form of text-based work at both 20 and 40 credit weightings, delivery of taught courses in Years 2 and 3, as well as PG Design Research Methods.You will be qualified to PhD level, or show evidence that a doctorate is imminent, or have equivalent experience. You should have experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or PGT level within Higher Education and in particular of supervision and assessment of extended writing at BA Honours level, preferably within practice-based design/visual arts programmes. You will also have excellent understanding of current debates, trends and issues, along with good general knowledge of contemporary design history, theory, and practice. You will have had a proven record in course development and delivery and a good understanding of assessment processes.
