Lecturer in History of Gender and Sexuality

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to high-quality and research-led teaching within the Department of History. They will be a specialist in non-British gender and sexuality history, ideally queer history, in any period c.1700-1945. They will take up the role on 1 September 2022

You will contribute to the provision of existing team-taught outline and optional units on gender and sexuality history, such as HIST10069 Gender in the Modern World and HIST30118 Sexualities. You may be expected to assume the leadership of teaching teams for research-led outline and optional units in history. You will be expected to carry out associated administrative and assessment duties. You will be expected to supervise undergraduate dissertations and act as an academic personal tutor, undertaking other teaching and administrative duties as appropriate. 

  • You have completed a PhD in history by the end of August 2023.
  • You may have a track record in research publications in this field and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • You have a proven track record in the teaching of gender/sexuality history at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and potentially also of teaching other units related to your specialism more broadly.
  • You have completed an HEA-accredited teaching qualification or have clear plans to do so.
  • You have demonstrated clear potential to achieve excellence in delivering research-led and research-informed teaching in your field.

Contract type: FTC (12 months)

Work pattern: Full time

Grade: J/P3b

Salary: £40,745 – £45,737 per annum

School/Unit: Department of History 

Shift pattern: 35 hours per week
