The School of Education and Childhood at UWE Bristol is a vibrant community with a mission to advance social justice through education and lifelong learning. We have a long-term commitment to providing high-quality learning, teaching and research.
We achieve this through partnerships with a large number of local schools, colleges and other organisations. We offer a range of programmes in Initial Teacher Education, Childhood, Education, and Professional Development. Our undergraduate and postgraduate Early Years and Primary programmes are long-established with excellent outcomes and feedback from students. Within the school, we also have a suite of online programmes, international programmes and are developing new programmes across the field of education.
We are looking to appoint one full time and one part time (0.6) Senior Lecturer in Education to work in our team. The posts will be based primarily in the Initial Teacher Education team and are permanent roles. The role will require you to plan and prepare teaching and you will work with experienced colleagues to prepare, deliver, and assess modules across the undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes.
You will be expected to eventually contribute to our research portfolio and should be willing to study for, or have already completed, a master’s qualification. Applicants should have had at least 6 years primary classroom experience.
As part of your role you will be required to support trainees on school experience and therefore a working knowledge of the DfE Teachers’ Standards and Qualified Teachers Status (QTS) are essential requirements for the post. As our partnership is wide, access to a vehicle will be necessary to fulfil this role.
You will be able to enthuse and motivate students, be flexible in your approach, have excellent interpersonal and mentoring/coaching skills, be highly organised, able to manage a varied and challenging workload and take a collaborative approach to your work.
