We have an exciting opening for an outstanding candidate to join the Human Resource Management & Employment Relations Department at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader level in Human Resource Management. This post will contribute to the development of our new online MSc Global HRM programme, as is open to applicants for both the Teaching & Research pathway and Education-focused pathway.  

The HRM & Employment Relations Department includes leading scholars in the fields of HRM, Organizational Behaviour and Employment Relations who publish in top-tier journals, generate impact and win funding across these fields. The HRM & Employment Relations Department at King’s Business School offers a friendly and collegial working environment that encourages teamwork and innovation, and supports individual faculty members in achieving their personal work goals. You should hold a PhD in a relevant field and have a high-quality track record of publications in leading refereed journals and an impressive research pipeline if targeting the Teaching & Research pathway, or demonstrable excellence in education if targeting the Education-focused pathway. Interest in developing and delivering online HRM modules is essential, though there will also be opportunities for face-to-face teaching. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates as they are currently under-represented within the faculty at this level.   

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract  

This is a full-time post 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities

  • Play a role in the planning, organisation, and delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Sustain high-quality research activity through a portfolio of individual and/or joint research projects and secure adequate funding.
  • Publish research findings in highly rated internationally recognised journals and/or influence wider policy and practice in this area.
  • Carry out academic management duties as requested by the Executive Dean or Head of Department.
  • Supervise postgraduate research students and/or research staff.
  • Participate in major internationally recognised academic networks, attend meetings and conferences to present research and thereby enhance the national and international standing of the School.
  • Develop and use a variety of methods to assess student learning and provide feedback that is timely, relevant, and appropriate.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria – Lecturer

1.       PhD in relevant subject area

2.       Appropriate list of relevant publications and some experience of developing research projects or collaborative funding bids

3.       Evidence of a pipeline of scholarly activities with potential for excellent future publications and/or impact

4.       Some experience of teaching relevant topics at undergraduate and postgraduate level and interest in online education and willingness to contribute to the pastoral care of students

Desirable criteria

1.       Experience of being innovative in contemporary HRM teaching and curriculum design, including online education.

2.       Engagement in professional organisations (conference papers, workshops, memberships)

3.       Some experience of carrying out academic administration

4.       Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the Faculty and university

Essential criteria – Senior Lecturer / Reader

1.       PhD in relevant subject area

2.       Appropriate list of relevant publications and significant experience of developing research projects and/or collaborative funding bids

3.       Significant evidence of a pipeline of scholarly activities with potential for excellent future publications and/or impact

4.       Significant experience of teaching relevant topics at undergraduate and postgraduate level and interest in online education and willingness to contribute to the pastoral care of students

5.       Experience of carrying out academic administration

6.       Engagement in professional organisations (conference papers, workshops, memberships)

7.       Experience of being innovative in contemporary HRM teaching and curriculum design.

Desirable criteria

1.       Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the Faculty and university

The interviews for this post will be held in January 2024. Potential start dates for the post will be between February 2024 to 1st September 2024.
