Inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and leaders in Marketing
Southampton Business School (SBS) is placed at the centre of the University of Southampton, a top 100 University in the world and a founder member of the UK Russell Group University. SBS hosts a vibrant and diverse community of scholars and students. It has grown substantially in breadth and size in the recent years, covering all core business and management disciplines via six Departments: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Decision Analytics and Risk, Digital and Data-Driven Marketing, Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour, and Strategy Innovation and Entrepreneurship. SBS academics conduct cutting edge research and publish consistently in world-class journals. Research activity within SBS is coordinated through ten multidisciplinary research centres. The longest established research centre is the Centre for Operational Research, Management Sciences and Information Systems (CORMSIS), which ranks 39th (QS) in the world. Building on its continued success, SBS is now ranked in the top quartile of the research-intensive business schools in the UK, with a strong research environment which is ranked 12th (REF2021) in the UK. The School has an ambitious growth plan, which includes investments in people and relocation to a state of art business building.
Building on this success, in July 2022, the School secured the 5-year re-accreditation of the MBA programme which is ranked 13th in the UK (QS data) and its AACSB accreditation was recently re-extended for another full period of 5 years. A member of the UNPRM, the school was recently awarded the CABS Small Business Charter in recognition of the SBS’ world-class support to students and local businesses, including the development of student entrepreneurial skills and the support and development of wider economic and social opportunities for business. Our Placement Team was also recognised as the best in the UK, demonstrating our commitment to the student experience, with the team remaining in the top 5 since, validating our focus and efforts on learner success. Recently our accounting & finance students were recognised as the global winner in the 2022 Bloomberg challenge demonstrating our commitment to excellence. Our research underpins our enterprise and educational activities. With an extensive programme portfolio accredited by 15 professional bodies we aim to develop future leaders who want to make a tangible impact on business and society. At the heart of the execution of our activities is our triple helix model whereby our research, education and enterprise activities are intertwined. Particularly, our integrated enterprise strategy enables us to reinforce our connections with the wider university, and communities we serve. These connections enable us to further deliver impactful research and improve the student learning experience.
About the Department of Digital and Data Driven Marketing
The Department of Digital and Data Driven Marketing brings together internationally renowned academics who undertake research into, and teach, a wide range of Digital and Data Driven Marketing -related topics. The Department is supported by the research centre: Centre for Marketing Research, where staff are actively engaged in cross-disciplinary research. The Department is consistently ranked number amongst the top 10 in the UK (4th in the Guardian League Table 2022). The Department of Digital and Data Driven Marketing brings together internationally renowned academics who undertake research into, and teach, a wide range of Digital and Data Driven Marketing -related topics. The Department runs the Centre for Marketing Research, where staff are actively engaged in cross-disciplinary research. Currently, comprising of 22 academics, the department’s teaching and research interests include digital marketing, sustainability, marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, brand management, luxury marketing, services marketing, entrepreneurship, and marketing analytics. The department members have published their research in top-tier journals including, the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of World Business, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Business Research, and Industrial Marketing Management, among others. The department has a thriving undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio, which is built around the research strengths and focus of the department staff.
As either a lecturer or teaching fellow, you will teach at an undergraduate and postgraduate level and act as a leader and ambassador for us across management and engagement activities. Whether developing your own teaching approaches, acting as supervisor to your students or contributing to the effective administration of our department, you will enjoy scope to innovate and make a significant impact. You will be involved in the school or departmental management and enterprise or other engagement activities.
For those considering the lecturer roles, you will play a central role in furthering the research of the department. You will bring a strong professional reputation to the role and will demonstrate the ability to produce world-class research for publication in leading academic journals.
