Position Overview
We are looking for a junior or mid-level commercial lawyer to join our Legal team for Europe based in Amsterdam. The candidate will have excellent technical legal skills and strong business judgement. Reporting to the Legal & Compliance Director Benelux, the candidate will provide legal advice and support the CRH businesses in Benelux and across Europe and will have a proven ability to tackle both simple and complex legal challenges efficiently and pragmatically.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

-Provide legal advice and support to CRH businesses across Europe with focus on Benelux (and corporate functions as required) on contractual, transactional, and strategic issues, including the business-critical aspects of commercial, dispute resolution, environmental, IT, employment, M&A, competition, property, trade sanctions, regulatory and compliance and intellectual property law as required
-Support the Innovation team of CRH in the protection of newly generated IP in the context of CRH’s journey to become a technology leader and develop its businesses to carbon neutrality, including implementation of processes and structures for proper IP management, provide appropriate legal advice at all maturity levels of the innovation lifecycle and in particular advise the CRH Innovation team on questions of patent or trademark registrations in cooperation with external IP counsel 
-Support and work collaboratively across the global Legal and Compliance team to support the business and mitigate legal risk 
-Horizon scan in respect of legal developments and stakeholder requirements, and review and advise on pending and developing applicable laws and how these affect CRH’s commercial activities 
-Manage relationships with CRH external counsel
-Support the team to establish and maintain culture, tone and consistency across CRH on legal and compliance matters

Key Functional Competencies
You possess the following:

-Excellent communication and influencing skills with a focus on solutions and a proven track record of providing business-focused legal advice
-Demonstrated ability to advance large, complex projects with cross-functional stakeholders under tight deadlines
-Curiosity with regard to the construction products industry, quick understanding of business models of CRH and operating companies, willingness to support CRH strategy and openness to innovation for new and sustainable product developments and service offerings
-Excellent interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to teamwork, professionalism, collegiality and communication, ability to interact with management at different corporate levels
-Self-starter who can work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
-Unquestioned integrity, judgment, resilience and a sense of humor
-Openness to legal technology and contributing to developments to improve efficiency of processes within the Legal Department
-Ability to travel as frequently as may be required

Experience / Education
You are/have:

-A qualified lawyer with 3 to 5 years+ experience in a large law firm or in-house legal team 
-LLB or equivalent law degree required
-Broad legal experience across a range of issues, knowledge of IP law welcome
-Good stakeholder handling skills and hands-on/pragmatic approach preferred
-Service mindedness, problem solving and solutions orientation a must
-Fluency in both Dutch and business English; and in other European language(s) (preferred)
-Drivers license (preferred for travelling to office locations)
