The Labor and Employment Legal team for Western and Southern Europe is a group of experienced and dedicated legal professionals who provide strategic legal advice and counsel involving the rights of employees, responsibilities of employers, and distinctions between employees and independent contractors. Our work includes all Western and Southern Europe employment litigations, labor disputes, independent contractor reclassification claims, as well as providing advice, counsel and training to Uber on employment law compliance and dispute avoidance.Your Impact in Role:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Counsel to join our EMEA legal team. You will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance and support on a wide range of labor and employment-related matters in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (90% focused on Germany and Switzerland).As a Counsel at Uber focused on platform work, you will not be a traditional Employment Counsel nor a ‘support’ function, you will be at the heart of our business and operations, and work closely with highly skilled cross functional teams.You will join a dedicated Employment Legal team and thrive in unprecedented complex litigations, new regulatory environments, new forms of collective bargaining and navigate the future of work in the platform economy.What You’ll Do:1. Litigation Management and Resolution Strategy for Platform Work:2. The novelty of our model, its evolution and diversity trigger unprecedented complex litigations that you will be in charge of for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.3. Legal Compliance and Strategic Advising:4. Stay abreast of evolving european and national laws and regulations related to platform work and misclassification, providing strategic guidance for compliance.5. Proactively assess potential legal risks specific to platform work and advise senior management on strategic decisions related to the status of platform workers.6. Policy Development and Product Counseling:7. Collaborate with all relevant functions to develop, review, and align policies with organizational goals and legal requirements, considering the unique aspects of platform work.8. Advise on emerging regulations specific to platform work and co define the roadmap in that context.The Experience You’ll Bring:1. Experience in employment and labor law in Germany2. Expertise in labor investigations and litigations3. Fluent in German and English – French would be a plus4. Highly motivated, efficient, organized, and laser-focused on the details5. Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment6. Comfortable collaborating as a team and working independently to get the job done, no matter how big or small the project7. Calm in deadline-driven situations; self-reliant and able to prioritize workload8.
