Department of Law invites applications for an associate professor position in Danish and Nordic tax law. The associate professorship is a permanent full-time position starting on 1 May 2025 or by further agreement.The position The successful applicant is expected to make a significant contribution to the department’s teaching and research within Danish and Nordic tax law. Physical attendance at the Department is required.Tax law deals with the rules that regulate determination, calculation and collection of tax from citizens and companies (hereinafter referred to as “the subject area”).It may include teaching at all the programmes, which the Department of Law offers or contributes to at any time.The teaching obligations relate to the subject area within all the programmes which the department offers or contributes to at any time. Currently, the main teaching and supervision tasks are on the BSc in Laws, BSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law, Master of Laws and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Administration, Accounting and Auditing and Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. The applicant must therefore be able to teach and supervise in Danish. The teaching duties also include assignments in connection with both oral and written examination. Finally, there is also a duty to contribute to the department’s PhD degree programme.The research obligations are mainly related to the parts of the subject area in which the person concerned teaches, but also to other tax law subjects within the overall strategy of the department and the faculty. The Department of Law wants to strengthen the research efforts within the subject area.In addition to teaching and research duties, the person appointed to the position must be prepared to take on administrative tasks (e.g. planning, execution, evaluation and further development of teaching) and to work actively towards the department’s objective of increased external funding.The person appointed to the position is expected to:

• Contribute significantly to the department’s teaching environment, particularly performing research-based teaching and supervision tasks at both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level in the subject area.
• Make a significant effort in connection with written and oral examinations, including by preparing written examination assignments.
• Publish and disseminate scientific results within the subject area, both nationally and internationally.
• Conduct the development of the subject area at the highest international level, including by supervising PhD students within the subject area and by offering PhD courses.
• Make a significant contribution to the department’s research environment, including by participating in internal and external, national and international conferences, workshops, networking and research groups within the subject area.
• Improve their skills in research management within the subject area including with a view to working actively to realise the department’s objective of increased external funding.
• Be prepared to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations where appropriate to develop teaching or research or to attract external funding.

Qualifications Appointment as an associate professor in tax law requires teaching and research qualifications at such level as can be attained following a satisfactory period of appointment as an assistant professor within the subject area, but which could also be achieved otherwise. In the assessment, emphasis will be placed on both breadth and depth of the applicant’s teaching and research activities.In the assessment of the applicant’s research, emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s documented thorough knowledge of the basic rules and basic principles of tax law, as well as the ability to apply these in one or more specialised areas within tax law.The following will be included in the assessment:

• The applicant’s documentation of teaching and examination qualifications, including preparation of written exam papers. The documentation must be in the form of a teaching portfolio that will provide the basis for an assessment of the level of the applicant in terms of teaching and education. More specific requirements regarding the documentation can be found in the faculty guidelines on the use of teaching portfolio. Documentation for preparation of written exam assignments must be available in the form of set exam assignments or approved drafts of such assignments.
• The applicant’s documentation of original scientific production at an international level within the subject area, including publication at recognised publishers and/or leading national and international journals.
• The applicant’s documentation of experience with presentation and dissemination of his/her research within the subject area.
• The applicant’s account of how he/she will contribute to the further development of the subject area.
• The applicant’s fulfilment of the other specific qualifications stipulated in the job advertisement.

In order to obtain a permanent position as associate professor at Aarhus BSS, it is a requirement that the applicant has completed the faculty’s course in supervision as well as the faculty’s course in Blended Learning – Go Online at Centre for Teaching and Learning before the employment.
