If so, we would love for you to come and work for Swansea Bay University HB.This post is full time Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist. This post is based in Swansea, but some duties may be held in other parts of the Health Board. It is offered on the amended terms of the Consultant Contract.The post is offered initially on a 10-session contract with on call commitments. The department is willing to consider flexible working arrangements depending on the individual needs of the successful candidate.The successful candidate must be fully registered with the General Medical Council, or be within 6 months of obtaining his/her CCT at the time of interview and should reside within 30 minutes (approx. 10 miles) of their base hospital.Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work this number of sessions would also be eligible to be considered for the post, and the post is subject to the terms and conditions of service governing the appointment of hospital medical and dental staff in Wales.Main duties of the jobYou will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice as laid down by the General Medical Council.You will be required to participate in the Health Board’s risk management process, clinical governance and any other healthcare governance activities within the department, the directorate and the Health Board. Adherence to the Caldicott Principles of information governance is mandatory.You will be required to maintain a license to practice through revalidation, to undergo satisfactory annual appraisal using the all Wales online Medical Appraisal Scheme (MARS) and to formulate a Personal Development Plan, in conjunction with the Clinical lead, to identify training and development needs. You will be expected to participate in sufficient personal and professional development to fulfil Royal College and GMC requirements. You will also be required to undergo a job plan review at least annually and to agree and then meet service outcomes.You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the service and directorate planning process through active participation in the clinical directorate structureAbout usSwansea Bay University Health Board (SBU HB) has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot (NPT) and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University HB working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and NPT hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.Mental Health and learning Disabilities services are provided both in hospital settings (Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea Caswell clinic and Taith Newydd at Glanrhyd Bridgend) and other community settings.We also have community hospital and primary care resource centres providing clinical services outside the main hospitals.The HB is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University. Qualifications
Essential

• Fully Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice
• MRCOG (or appropriate specialist qualification in OBGYN)
• On Specialist Register or within 6 months of receiving CCT (or equivalent) at the time of interview
• Certificate of completion of sub-specialty training in Gynaecological-oncology or equivalent (e.g. ESGO

Desirable

• Higher degree (MD or PhD)
• Teaching qualification/Higher qualification in medical education
• Colposcopy accreditation with BSCCP

Experience
Essential

• Evidence of an ability to develop effective working relationships, on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff (Working Together)
• Evidence of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve a service (Always Improving)
• Values partnership with other agencies (Working Together)
• Evidence of teaching and training of post/undergraduate clinical staff
• Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing audit
• Evidence of active participation in research including peer reviewed publications
• Evidence of proficiency in surgical management of gynaecological cancers including minimal access surgery and all facets of pre and postoperative care

Desirable

• Evidence of work experience internationally in an accredited gynaecological oncology centre
