Offer Description
The person recruited will be responsible for studying the impact of changes in curvature on cell migration using imaging techniques (experience in confocal microscopy strongly recommended). He/she will have to analyze and format the data (knowledge of ImageJ and Imaris software recommended), valorize the results in the form of scientific articles and communicate the results orally. He/she should be highly motivated, dynamic, resourceful and eager to join a multidisciplinary team and an international network, open to new ideas and concepts, and have a strong taste for interdisciplinary science at the interface of chemistry, biology and physics.
– Prepare specific substrates with curvature variations, grow different cell types on these substrates
– Monitor cell migration on dynamic substrates by confocal microscopy
– Analyze and interpret imaging and molecular biology data
The position will be funded for two years by the ANR Moving Cells project. The researcher will join the Biointerface group at the Institut des Sciences des Matériaux de Mulhouse (IS2M), under the supervision of Laurent Pieuchot, CNRS researcher and group leader. The team is made up of a dozen people, including 6 permanent researchers and engineers. The person recruited will also interact with Valeriy Luchnikov, CNRS researcher and physicist at IS2M, who is developing the dynamic substrates on which the cells will be grown, and Jean-Louis Milan, lecturer at ISM (Movement Science Institute) in Marseille, who is developing the modeling associated with the project.
IS2M has a staff of around 180, including 60 permanent researchers specialized in chemistry, physics and biology. Mulhouse is located in Alsace, in eastern France, on the borders of Germany (Freiburg im Breisgau) and Switzerland (Basel), with direct access to Paris (less than 3 hours by TGV) and an international airport (Euroairport, 20 km).
