The EH&S department is recruiting for a(n) Manager EH&S Occupational Safety and Process Safety Management to support the Johnson & Johnson manufacturing site in Geel, Belgium.The Geel site is the largest chemical production site for small molecule API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) within the J&J Innovative Medicines Supply Chain. We ensure lifesaving medicines reach the patient, safely, optimality, competitively, always. Beside production of API’s, the site has a launch & grow mission for new pharmaceutical products. To accomplish this mission, we keep investing in new technologies, people, and partnerships. We work together in a dynamic environment where innovation and a ‘can do’ state of mind are common good.As EH&S Manager, you will feel the beating heart of pharmaceutical manufacturing. You support and advise the site in implementation of Occupational Safety and Process Safety policies and practices and you are continuously improving these programs to prevent severe injuries or undesired health effects caused by activities at the workplace, together with the environmental health and safety (EH&S) team. In your job you work with many functions and levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

• You lead and mentor a team of EH&S professionals, settling a strategy aligned with site needs, legal, and J&J requirements.
• You are member of the EH&S Geel Leadership team and report to the EH&S Site lead.
• You will address with your team daily related to EHS questions, technical changes, and continuous improvement initiatives from various departments on-site. You will serve as the first point of contact for different departments as well ownership for specific EH&S topics.
• You promote a culture of continuous improvement and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of operational and EH&S processes.
• You will handle the assigned budget and follow-up the prioritization and execution of short-term and long-term investments to improve EH&S.
• You will prepare EH&S-related inspections and audits, participate or coordinate these, and handle interactions with EH&S-related authorities.
• You will influence and persuade leadership to promote safety projects and programs and will raise key issues and ongoing subpar performance to Site Management when needed.
• You are one of the key players in the emergency planning and business continuity planning. You are available outside of normal working hours to assist in emergencies and participate in the on-call role.

Education:

• A professional bachelor in chemistry or equivalent experience.
• EH&S Advisor Safety Level 1 certificate.

Experience and Skills:Required:

• Strong technical background in Occupational Safety and Process Safety Management, preferably combined with previous experience in a (petro)chemical production environment.
• Extensive expertise and will direct ownership of various occupational topics.
• A people manager or have at least experience leading teams.

Preferred:

• A business focused and proactive mentality and are a true teammate.
• You can operate in a sophisticated and constantly evolving international environment.
• You take initiative and are capable of accurately assessing priorities, even under time pressure and are an independent decision-maker.
• You have experience as a (lead) auditor.

Other:

• You are proficiency in spoken and written English and Dutch.
• You are willing to travel (max. 10%).
