Job Summary: A Manager of UX Design manages people with significant responsibilities and in addition articulates the UX design strategy and principles to the business. She/he leads the training of the team and is responsible for hiring and mentorship.
Responsibilities:
Customer (or User) Focus
- Creates processes that are good at discovering design options to address customer needs.
- Has a solid understanding of customer use cases.
- Leverages metrics to track progress on customer needs.
- Rallies the cross functional team around customer needs.

- Establishes a process for their group with fast learning cycles.

Product Design
- Effectively manage a team of designers in preparation of wireframes, prototypes, design concepts, and high-resolution artifacts to be used in final implementation.
- Effectively partner with product management to ensure solutions meet the needs of users and serve as a liaison to business area and to technology partners.
- Perform design standards integrity check during implementation phases.
- Perform product/content evaluation to determine fit, collaborative design sessions with customers by role/persona, and collaborative design sessions with key stakeholders by role to lay out future state designs.
- Develops and drive the UCD vision for solutions and consult on the goals for the team that support the vision.
- Ensures all staff are provided with training and resources needed to perform their jobs to the most outstanding degree possible.
- Ensures all staff are provided with frequent feedback and coaching in order to meet and exceed individual and team performance goals consistently.
Data Driven Analysis & Testing
- Oversees team in the collection of data from analytics packages, customer insight or other sources to understand context of research work.
- Proactively uses data to establish key metrics for team.
- Identifies gaps where data is needed and works with business to fill them.
- Regularly oversees the testing of design work .
- Ensures team iterates research methods based on testing and data analysis.
- Uses data to inform testing future strategy.
Technical Skills
- Has an excellent knowledge of the tech stack of the organisation.
- Coaches junior designers in technical skills.
- Identifies need for training in technical skills by team and organises training.
- Understands full capabilities of design software (Axure, Sketch, Invsion) and oversees its use by the team.
- Negotiates licences to design software for team.
