Introduction
North Devon UNESCO Biosphere reserve ran the Marine Pioneer for Defra which resulted in the
UK’s first Marine Natural Capital Plan, this was in turn followed up with a project called the
Blue Natural Capital Accelerator programme that has created a number of highly investible
projects for blended investment. Coupled with the opportunities and pressures of the Floating
Offshore Wind and our Marine Nature Recovery plan and linking into various programmes around
the estuary, we need a dedicated and multiskilled individual to help us to ensure our projects
are developed, governed and executed efficiently.

This is an outline of the duties of the post. It is not a comprehensive or exclusive list and
duties may be varied from time to time which do not change the general character of the job or the
level of responsibility
Statement of Purpose
To develop actions and initiatives that facilitates the implementation of the Marine Natural
Capital Plan and Marine Nature Recovery plan in North Devon Biosphere Marine area and beyond as
defined by the project steering group and to be the focal point for the governance of the
project in the area.
Principal Accountabilities:
- To support the stakeholders in the integrated development of the marine projects and budget
aligned to the Marine Natural Capital Plan and the Marine Nature recovery plan. - To coordinate and deliver as appropriate the agreed marine programme
- To organise regular meetings of the marine working group and the Marine Policy advice
working group, for the better management of the marine pioneer. - To identify and pursue external funding opportunities with partners to deliver the agreed
projects - To liaise with the key agencies such as Devon and Severn IFCA, Natural England, Lundy,
South West Partnership for Environment and Economic Prosperity (SWEEP) impact programme. - To liaise with the regional and national stakeholders including the MMO planning team to
ensure synergies with development of the SW Marine Plan - To maintain the marine webpages on the BR website and optimise the information flow to
public and stakeholders about the marine sector in north Devon.
