Job summaryWe are seeking a dynamic Maternity Clinical Educator to provide leadership, support, and expertise in advancing clinical practice and education. This role focuses on mentoring newly qualified midwives, promoting innovative practices, and ensuring excellence in electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and intrapartum care, in alignment with current evidence and national guidelines.As part of the maternity education team, you will deliver expert training and guidance, collaborate with the senior midwifery team to implement evidence-based practices.Main duties of the jobThe Maternity Clinical Educator will lead in-service education programmes, provide specialised knowledge in intrapartum care, including adherence to NICE guidance and emergency management, and support the professional development of midwife preceptors through evaluation and mentorship.   • Teaching and assessing in clinical practice qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrable CPD
  • Study at level 6 (Degree/Diploma)

Desirable

  • Master’s in education or equivalent
  • Attendance on a clinical leadership development programme

ExperienceEssential

  • Current clinical experience
  • Experience at a senior level (band 7) in Midwifery
  • Experience in quality and clinical audit.
  • Experience of mentoring students and teaching in practice
  • Able to be part of the band 8 on call rota

Desirable

  • Handling complaints and issues involving midwives

  • Excellent interpersonal, managerial and organisation skills.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  • Ability to act as a change agent.
  • Ability to work both in a team and individually.

  • Good IT skills.

  • Experience of clinical supervision and use of reflective practice.
  • Knowledge of current evidence and guidelines around electronic fetal hear monitoring and physiological interpretation.
  • Knowledge about current evidence and report influencing practice.
  • Understanding of child and vulnerable adults protection.

  • Awareness of research methodologies.
