Offer Description
Mathematics: Swansea University Research Excellence Scholarships (SURES): Fully Funded PhD Scholarship: Enriched Motives and Transfers
Motivic homotopy theory is a spectacular area of mathematics, with many powerful applications within and around mathematics. It has significantly impacted algebraic geometry through innovations which have led to the solution of a number of longstanding problems, such as the Milnor Conjecture (Voevodsky) or the Bloch–Kato Conjecture (Rost–Voevodsky). In addition, these developments have spurred on new discoveries in number theory and algebraic topology.
This project is to explore and develop further aspects of enriched motivic homotopy theory which is of major importance for constructing various categories of non-linear motives and motivic Gamma-spaces, a framework for infinite loop spaces and very effective spectra in the algebro-geometric setting of motivic homotopy theory. Applications of this research are expected in algebraic geometry, algebraic topology and category theory.
