About the role:We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Basingstoke Sewage Treatment Works (STW) As the successful candidate your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. To assist in keeping such a site running.This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water’s environmental impact and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician

  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on include motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  • Completing statutory checks as required.
  • Always working safely and complying with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Basingstoke – RG24 8LL.Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby and overtime opportunities for which you will receive an additional payment.All PPE, tools, van and fuel card are Provided.What you should bring to the role

  • You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering is crucial.
  • Experience in maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
  • The work requires you to work in confined spaces with the successful completion of appropriate training.
  • A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment, such as vehicles and tools are provided.
