Full-Time | PermanentHartley People Recruitment is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join a leading steel fabrication company based in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong project coordination skills and an interest in working across procurement, inspections, and fabrication delivery.The role supports the successful execution of large-scale stainless and carbon steel fabrication projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and client stakeholders, ensuring projects meet all technical, safety, and quality standards.Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate procurement activities including material selection, purchasing, and vendor liaison.
• Compile accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for each project stage.
• Conduct material and fabrication inspections to ensure compliance with quality and specification standards.
• Support fabrication teams to ensure technical plans are followed and production targets are met.
• Manage project timelines and costs, reporting progress and resolving deviations.
• Liaise with clients to ensure alignment between technical requirements and production outputs.
• Prepare project documentation and contribute to cross-functional reporting.
• Attend client and site meetings as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and fabrication processes.
• Experience in steel or metal fabrication environments highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project setting.
• Occasional travel to client or manufacturing sites may be required.
