Job overview and responsibilities
Within the Digital Operations team, the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) developer is responsible for designing and supporting manufacturing-related solutions. In collaboration with the product manager, this developer offers technical expertise and functional support, and actively leads or contributes to projects in this domain. He/she specializes in developing and coding technical interfaces and automations for diverse and complex systems. Bringing his/her expertise and experience to the table, he/she supports the team from the early design phase and plays a crucial role in Level 2/Level 3 support during incidents or complex changes. With a focus on maintaining and enhancing vital interfaces, the developer advocates for automation and systems integration, prioritizing efficiency and resilience. Adopting an IT developer’s approach, they are the team’s versatile expert in system integration and automation, akin to a Swiss army knife.
- Maintain in operational condition the interfaces between MES and critical systems on the manufacturing domain (e.g. ERP, LIMS).
- Maintain the documentation, inventory, configurations management
- Improve support processes and coordinate with the service-desk the level1, handle Level 2/Level 3 escalations in his area of expertise
- Design and maintain monitoring systems of the team
- Lead integration with workplace (PC, workstations, servers)
- Promote best practices and valuable use cases interfacing different systems
- Being the 1st point of contact for interfaces and automation within Digital Operations but by nature of the job with other IT teams (i.e. ERP)
- Monitor key service indicators and escalate deviations to the product manager
- Develop and execute global strategy for MES infrastructure/applications
- Lead and contribute to projects in the scope of manufacturing to enhancement such as guarantee redundancy, resiliency, performance and cyber security
- Contribute to the roadmap construction. Sponsor and develop new solutions in coordination with the product managers, the architects and technical leaders.
- Enforce cyber security and compliance rules as per company policy, with special attention to export control regulated data.
- Participate to internal audits
Education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant course of studies
+5 years’ experience in that domain
Skills and behavioural competencies
- Developer (multiple language) / Web development
- Expertise in MES suite Aspentech & Aveva/Osisoft
- Experience in interface maintenance and creation with ETL (MII, TALEND, Webmethod…)
- Solid experience in IT Infrastructure (Network, Firewalls, Hosting, Windows Server & Workstation)
- Experience of database administration (MS-SQL)
- Experience in configuration of OT/IT interfaces is a plus
