This highly regarded fellowship gives candidates the opportunity to pursue their own research project for up to two years, under the supervision of an experienced academic within the field.The LRCS offers academic mentoring and grant-writing support to outstanding candidates who wish to join the laboratory with a project falling under some of the laboratory’s research areas.What the LRCS offersWell-connected, innovation-savvy, and strategically placed between Paris and the burgeoning French ‘Battery valley’, the LRCS is a great place to undertake research in energy storage.Founded in 1968, the LRCS became a seat of world-class research in materials for energy storage and conversion in the late 1990s, under the direction of Professor Jean-Marie Tarascon. The LRCS has promoted the creation and management of the ALISTORE European Network for battery research (est. 2004) and of the French National Network for Energy Storage (RS2E, est. 2013) of which it continues to be the beating heart. Now directed by Professor Christian Masquelier, the LRCS shares the premises of Amiens’ Energy Hub with four companies commercialising the results of research in which LRCS researchers are heavily involved: TIAMAT, G-Lyte, A2MAC1 and CRYSTAL ENERGY.Equipment available at the LRCS includes the UPJV Microscopy Platform, the laboratory’s own X-ray diffractometers (5), the Analytical platform (Mass Spectroscopy, NMR, XPS), and the UPJV’s MATRICS computing platform (with enhanced-service computing nodes dedicated to the LRCS). The LRCS manages the RS2E network’s pre-transfer and prototyping platforms, with the capacity to manufacture 18650 and Pouch-Cells (cylindrical batteries).For the 2025 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call, the LRCS is looking to support outstanding applications in the following areas:

• Digital models and digital twins for battery manufacturing (with Prof. Alejandro Franco);
• Edge-computing and machine learning for advanced battery materials analysis (with Dr. Arnaud Demortière);
• Inorganic ion conductors for All Solid-State Batteries (with Prof. Christian Masquelier);
• Organic-based electrodes and electrolytes for batteries (with Prof. Matthieu Becuwe);
• New chemical hydrides for hydrogen storage in solids (with Dr. Raphaël Janot);
• Recycling of Industrial Black Mass from LFP and LFMP Batteries (with Dr. Nadir Recham).

Pre-selected candidates will benefit from academic guidance from specialists in their research area during the application process, as well as from mentoring on proposal-writing from the LRCS’ manager of European projects within LRCS.Description of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral European FellowshipThe purpose of the MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship is to support the career development and training of researchers through international mobility. The scheme is open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe. The standard duration of these fellowships is between 12 and 24 months.The grant provides researchers with a salary, a mobility allowance, family allowance (if required) as well as funding for research, training and networking. Full details of the scheme are available at:.Eligibility and Candidate qualificationsCandidates should:

• hold a PhD degree on the closing date for applications. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree are also eligible to apply.
• have a maximum of eight years of experience in research from the date of the award of the PhD degree – the following experience will not be counted towards this maximum:

• years of experience outside research and career breaks;
• years of experience in research in third countries, for nationals or long-term residents of EU Member States or Horizon Europe Countries who wish to reintegrate.
• comply with mobility rules: at the time of the call deadline (10 September 2025) researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies etc) in France for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
• Be fluent in written and spoken English.
• Be able to work independently.

Application and Assessment processApplicants interested to join LRCS to pursue their research project should submit:

• A one-page CV highlighting their academic background, as well as relevant skills and experience.
• An outline of the proposed research (maximum 1,500 words). This must clearly outline the objectives, as well as the importance and impact of the proposed research, its contribution to the state-of-the-art. It must inform of the proposed methodology and explain why the LRCS is an appropriate host institution. The feasibility of the proposed research within the time-frame of the fellowship is an evaluation criterion.

Please submit project outlines in Word format by the 25 April 2025 to Emma Prevignano (Manager of European Projects, ) and to Christian Masquelier (Director of LRCS, ) in an email with subject ‘MSCA_mentorsurname_candidatesurname’ (e.g. ‘MSCA_Demortiere_Rossi’).All documents that you submit to LRCS, including your proposal idea, will be handled in full confidentiality. Candidates will be notified of the outcome of this first stage application no later than mid-June 2025.Successful candidates will be invited to develop a full MSCA PF application in collaboration with the LRCS. The final proposal will be submitted by the deadline of 10 September 2025. Applicants who are successful in receiving EU funding must relocate to Amiens to work as a postdoctoral fellow.The postdoctoral position (if the MSCA-PF application is successful)The successful MSCA European Postdoctoral fellowship will be announced by the EU in February 2026. To successful applicants who are awarded the MSCA European PF, we will offer:

• a position at CNRS as a postdoctoral researcher to implement the project on a temporary contract;
• guidance from an experienced supervisor;
• specialised training as agreed in the proposal;
• opportunities to engage and collaborate with the international and national networks of the LRCS.
