Overview
Do you have a strong leadership and management skills? Do you enjoy supporting exciting new research programs?
If so, we are seeking an experienced Research Manager to lead the management of the musculoskeletal (MSK) theme of the newly awarded £21M NIHR Barts Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive higher education institutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the precision medicine programme of the BRC-MSK Theme on time and to budget. You will be required to establish good working relationships and partnerships with the MSK Theme leads, academics, research staff, NHS clinicians, administrators, managers and NIHR BRC office staff.
You will also be responsible for capturing and disseminating evidence of the success, delivery, and impact of the BRC-MSK. You will take the lead on preparing reports/returns and regular internal reviews of progress and support applications for new funding and help develop coherent horizontal programmes of activity within the BRC-MSK and across the whole BRC.
The role would suit applicants who have an Academic/NHS/commercial background with experience in HEI finance and the conduct of clinical trials.
You will join a 60 strong research team of scientists and clinicians dedicated to understanding the disease pathogenesis and improve the treatment of several musculoskeletal diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome and Osteoarthritis at the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR). The Centre is located in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Arts and Music Centre.
Duration and salary
The post is full time and on a fixed term 54-month contract. Salary ranges between £41,386 – £48,414 per annum at Grade 5, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
