BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGIONTEMPORARY FULL-TIME NATIONAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGERICT DEPARTMENT – NATIONALJOB REF: 73468Introduction:The Brothers of Charity is a religious voluntary organisation founded in 1807 by Canon Peter Triest to provide a Christian response to a variety of needs in society. The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland (BOCSI) operates in the regions of Galway, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Tipperary, Clare and Roscommon with 4500+ staff providing services to over 8000 individuals, and has an annual budget of approximately €220M.Background to the role:Over the past 5 years, BOCSI has centralised its primary information technology infrastructure and business application systems (Finance, Human Resources and Client Management Systems). All in-house applications are sitting on a common centralised infrastructure. BOCSI ICT has a strong tradition of developing applications in-house in conjunction with our business partners across Client Services, HR and Finance. In addition to this we also engage with external vendors in the use of specialist SAAS software applications, particularly in the area of Facilities Management and Learning Management. All application development is carried by a team of application developers/analysts who are aligned to each of the business units.The next stage in our digital transformation is the definition of our master data model, this will involve a tightening of data linkages across all business units within the organisation. In addition to this there a number of pipelined application projects that need to be undertaken over the next year including Digital Time & Attendance System, Dynamic Reporting, API Integration with external systems (Facilities/Recruitment) and full roll out of digital eForms across the organisation, amongst others.Reporting To/ Responsible To:Chief Information Officer (CIO).Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

  • The person selected must have:
  • Min 7 years’ relevant software development experience with at least 3 years in an application team lead role;
  • Strong background in Microsoft web technologies (e.g., ASP.NET,.NET, Azure, C#). The ideal candidate will have expertise in building scalable web applications and be open to leveraging low-code/no-code platforms for rapid application development.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and innovation skills are essential to drive the team and deliver robust, user-focused solutions.
  • Have extensive knowledge on back-end database design and development in SQL Server or equivalent;
  • Experience managing complex applications/software development related projects.
  • Strong experience in implementing testing strategies to ensure high-quality deliverables and managing ongoing support to maintain and enhance existing applications.
  • Have strong analytical and design skills, with a clear understanding of all aspects of the application development lifecycle including both waterfall and agile methodologies;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven ability to develop & manage teams, motivate staff and encourage excellence;
  • Have a third level qualification in Software Development, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Possess a full clean driving licence.

Desirable experience

  • Current and up to date PMP/Prince2 qualifications or equivalent Agile/Scrum certifications are an advantage.

Working Hours:The normal working week will be a 70-hour fortnight; however, flexible hours including weekends and evenings are occasionally involved. Starting and finishing times will be notified to, and agreed with, the appointee from time to time by the Chief Information Officer.The successful candidate must be available for on call situations that may arise from time to time. These times may be outside ‘normal’ operational times and must be approved by your manager.Location:The role can be based in any of our regional offices which include Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Clare, Galway and Roscommon.
