at the Department of Biotechnology and Food MicrobiologyJob Description:The responsibilities of the position include:

• conducting research in the fields of biotechnology, genetic engineering, and structural biology, including the acquisition of external funding for research projects;
• preparing and teaching courses in bioinformatics and molecular biology in both Polish and English;
• disseminating research results through publications in scientific journals indexed in SCOPUS or Web of Science;
• participation in national and international scientific conferences and symposia;
• participation in workshops and training sessions to improve professional qualifications;
• involvement in organizational activities within the department and the university;
• other duties assigned by the Head of the Department, consistent with the profile and nature of the unit and the university.

Candidate Requirements:

• holds at least a Master’s degree (M.Sc. or M.Sc. Eng.) or an equivalent degree in biotechnology or a related scientific field;
• is proficient in Polish (spoken and written);
• is proficient in English at a minimum of B2 level;
• has experience in molecular biology and proteomics (e.g. PCR, Real-Time PCR, nucleic acid isolation, protein electrophoresis, Western blotting, protein purification, and enzymatic activity analysis);
• has experience in structural biology, including both experimental and bioinformatic analysis of protein structures (e.g. crystallization, diffraction data analysis, 3D modelling using tools such as PyMOL, WinCoot, AlphaFold);
• has experience in metabolic engineering, especially of non-conventional yeasts;
• possesses programming skills and experience in using bioinformatics tools in transcriptomic analyses (e.g. RNA-Seq, NGS data processing, DNA variant calling);
• meets the criteria set out in Article 113 of the Polish Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, including:

• full public rights;
• full legal capacity;
• no final conviction for an intentional crime or intentional fiscal offence;
• no disciplinary penalty of dismissal from a university position with a ban on working at higher education institutions for a period of 6 months to 5 years, or disqualification from practising as an academic teacher for 10 years.
