The Section is staffed with around 20 engineers supporting all ESA projects and offers a unique opportunity to contribute on the challenges related to optoelectronic technologies needed for ESA missions, spacecraft, instruments and equipment.DutiesYou will report to the Head of Section and within the technical fields described above, your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Your duties may also include supporting other activities within your field of competence.Technical competenciesGeneral background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position (i.e. detectors and imaging systems, ideally with visible, infrared and x-ray detectors and detection chains including one or more of the following detector types: CCD, CMOS, MCT and InGaAs)Experience with laboratory and field testing of relevant technical equipment and hands-on hardware experience on focal plane arrays and related front-end electronicsUnderstanding of related technologies, R&D trends and the industrial landscapeProject support experience in a relevant domainExperience in the coordination and preparation of procurement activities for technology development and innovation (statements of work, proposal evaluation, etc.)Behavioural competenciesResult Orientation

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.Applicants must be eligible to access technology and hardware which is subject to European and US export control regulations & security clearance by their national security administrations.During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests.
