YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
 
WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will be responsible for all elements of administration of the patient journey, from clinic letter production to managing scans and outpatient appointments. Liaising closely with consultants and other clinical team members to ensure the smooth running of the admin functions. Confidentiality and a willingness to learn is essential. You will be dealing with bereavement packs and liaising with funeral directors.

You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess effective communication skills. You must be confident, diplomatic and able to work in a busy environment with a pleasant disposition.

The role is varied and busy and you will need to have a flexible approach to a demanding workload with changing priorities.

You will need to have a high standard of spelling and grammar and someone who is committed to learn and develop. You will need to demonstrate compassion, patience, calmness with good communication skills. Due to the nature of this role a high level of organisation is essential.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • High standards of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate over the telephone and in person.
  • Use of IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to work independently, seeking guidance where necessary

An understanding of the NHS is desirable. Advanced IT skills, proven experience of using a word processing package (preferably Microsoft Word) and excellent keyboard skills is essential.

This is an area of high activity. Good communication, organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your workload are essential for this role. You will need to have an accurate and systematic approach to your work and attention to detail. Effective communication skills are crucial as you will liaise with a variety of people including the general public and hospital staff. The ability to work either alone or co-operatively in a team environment are key to this role.

The successful post holder will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave across our services.
