People Team AssistantDiscovery Schools Academies Trust LtdThe role will be based at NSPCC Training Centre, 3 Gilmour Close, Leicester, LE4 1EZGrade 5 Pay Point 7-8 (£24,407 – £24,794)37 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term time only)Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00Hybrid working – NSPCC Training Centre/Schools/HomeDiscovery Schools Academies Trust Ltd is looking to appoint an enthusiastic People Team Assistant to provide administrative support across a full range of HR-related work. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function.   • Assisting the HR Manager, issue offer letters, contracts of employment and letters of variation in accordance with Discovery Schools Academy Trust processes and procedures.
  • Prepare paperwork to instruct the payroll provider of relevant changes i.e. new starters, leavers and other salary adjustments, within the specified payroll deadlines using established procedures.
  • Assisting with the processes for the recruitment of colleagues across the trust including the advertising of posts, monitoring and responding to queries, assisting with the selection processes as part of the Trust recruitment procedure.
  • Prepare paperwork to instruct the payroll provider of relevant changes i.e. new starters, leavers and other salary adjustments, within the specified payroll deadlines using established procedures.
  • Providing regular information to assist in the management of HR processes i.e. pay increments due, expiry of fixed term contracts, sickness certificates and fit notes required or overdue.
  • To carry out new starter / leaver processes including the collection and recording of essential documentation in accordance with Trust policy and procedure.
  • Administering pre-employment checks in accordance with safer recruitment guidelines.
  • To maintain checklists and obtain outstanding documentation required in connection with employment matters.
  • Issuing appropriate paperwork to enable line managers to conduct probation and induction processes.
  • Maintaining the Single Central Record in respect of all centrally based staff, Board members, Trustees and Directors, SCITT students, volunteers and visitors/contractors to the Trust.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Business administration experience of at least 1 year ideally gained from working in a HR department.
  • Excellent Standard of Education with minimum GCSE grade C in both English and Math. Level 3 qualification in subject related to the post.
  • Use of ICT applications relevant to the post, i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Publisher.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and an appreciation of the implications of the Data Protection Act.
  • Knowledge of Child Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures.
  • Accuracy in recording and inputting information into HR systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – able to deal with a variety of people, sensitively, emphatically and, when necessary, assertively.
