The innovative Postgraduate Taught (PGT) programmes at WOPEC in the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Cardiff University incorporate both distance learning and contact teaching. We are seeking to appoint a part time module leader to join our motivated postgraduate teaching team. 

Module Leaders work to develop, deliver and evaluate modules/ programmes within the postgraduate qualification provision in the School. As well as teaching and assessing students, they are responsible for the day to day running of a module, the maintenance of external accreditations and the teaching and assessment including co-ordinating other members of staff that contribute. 

This post will be to contribute to the teaching and assessment of our portfolio of glaucoma modules, leading one or more module. The PGT glaucoma modules include:  

Most of the teaching and assessment is online and there is a requirement to deliver some live teaching episodes outside of standard office hours. Attendance at a number of in-person days in Cardiff is required, most likely to lead contact training/assessment days in January and June. In person attendance at Exam Board/ Board of Studies in February and/or in July is also required each year.  

Although the role will primarily be focused on WOPEC postgraduate provision at first, there is potential for future involvement in the delivery of the MOptom programme. This may result in an increase of in-person activity within the School in the future.   

This is a part time position 0.3 FTE (10.5 hours per week) and is fixed term for a period of 3 years. 

Salary:  £49,794 – £54,395 per annum (Grade 7), plus market supplement, pro rata for hours worked.
