The Advanced and Chronic Liver Disease group is looking for a highly motivated student with good academic scores willing to join our group through competitive PhD programme calls (AGAUR, PFIS, CIBER).The Advanced and Chronic Liver Disease group belongs to the Liver Diseases Research Group of VHIR. It is also a consolidated group, recognized by AGAUR and it is integrated at the CIBERehd. We are interested in the mechanisms leading to liver fibrosis and portal hypertension in liver disease, mostly of metabolic injury and alcohol-related origin, as well as the immune and inflammatory underlying pathways. We use the rat/mouse model and several ex vivo techniques.OBJECTIVEThe aim of this call is to train 1 doctoral candidate over a period of four years within The Advanced and Chronic Liver Disease group of the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).The conditions of the call are established in compliance with the European Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), which establishes the implementation of open, gender equality, transparent and merit-based recruitment measures, to contribute to the promotion of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).ECONOMIC CONDITIONS

• This PhD Call offers one four-year pre-doctoral fellowship.
• Approximately, the gross annual salary will be between 23.000-28.000€ depending on the competitive funding (AGAUR, PFIS, CIBERehd,…).

DURATION3-4 yearsELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS

• Candidates must be in possession of a university degree and a master’s degree in health sciences (biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, medicine, etc).
• Candidates must have finished the university studies (≥300 ECTS) between 1st January 2024 and the closing date of application submission.
• Candidates must have obtained a minimum average grade of the academic record of the studies of degree equal to or higher than 7.
• Candidates must have the pre-admission to a doctoral studies programme at the time of starting the grant.
• Certificate of Animal Research Experimentation or willing to get it (financed by the group).
• Previous experience in a research lab.
• Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
• Authorship in scientific publications will be positively valued.
• Candidates must not have held a PhD contract exceeding twelve months in any research institution before the closing date of application submission.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Development of his/her PhD project.
• The candidate will carry out experimental design, experimental work, results analysis and article writing in the context of a research group on Advanced and Chronic Liver Disease.
• Participation in the teaching activities organized by the group and the campus
