Offer DescriptionThe “organo-f-synthesis” group is based at the Laboratory of Molecular Chemistry (UMR 9168), UMR CNRS Ecole Polytechnique. The group, works on lanthanide and actinide complexes, and has obtained ANR funding for the synthesis of uranyl complexes containing various N-heterocyclic ligands. The aim is to study the luminescence properties and photo-induced reactivity of these various complexes, with a view to using them as HAT (Hydrogen Atom Transfer) photo-catalysts. ( ).-The mission will be to synthesize uranyl (UO22+) complexes with commercial ligands or ligands developed in the laboratory. The PhD student will synthesize ligands and complexes with uranyl and characterize them with the support of PhD and post-doctoral students working on the subject, using multiple methods including X-ray diffraction, NMR, UV-Vis-NIR and infrared/Raman. More advanced spectroscopic studies (luminescence, excited state lifetime, etc.) will also be carried out in partnership with laboratory of ENS Lyon. The PhD student will be in charge of reactivity studies of these complexes on various alkanes, in cooperation with a post-doc.
