Job Title : Policy Analyst, Global Education Programme Fixed term (18 months contract)

CGD/E, an independent, non-partisan research organization seeks a full-time Policy Analyst for a fixed-term position with its global education program, to be based in either its London or DC offices. The purpose of the role is to support CGD to deliver on the objectives of its global education program. This position will involve programme management responsibilities, research, and policy outreach collaborations. The successful candidate will have strong research, data analysis and management skills and an interest in education policy in low- and middle-income countries. The primary area of work and research will be on the topic of school-related violence. Other possible areas of research include a wide range of key development issues.
Responsibilities
Conduct technical research and analysis. Co-author policy briefs, blogs, and papers.
Track policy developments and identify opportunities to strengthen policy analysis.
Support programme management and coordination of policy events, supervising and coordinating actions with multiple stakeholders, proactively monitoring progress, and enhancing cross-collaboration and integration of research and policy efforts.
Support outreach efforts to institutions, policymakers, and their staff.
Collaborate with senior staff and members of the CGDE communications team to translate research into policy-focused products.
Contribute to the drafting of communications and reports to funders and supporters.
Perform other duties within the range of skills and abilities of the post holder, as required in support of senior staff.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and skills:
Master’s degree in economics, public policy, finance, or related field.
At least 2 years of relevant development policy, management, and operational work experience.
Strong research and data analysis skills – excellent Stata skills (or other data analysis programs).
Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail; proven ability to advance projects with hands-off supervision while being accountable for the accuracy of outputs.
Experience working with governments, multilateral institutions and/or official donors.
Strong communications and writing skills in English, including the ability to communicate complex messages, and to rapidly produce high-quality briefing materials on development policy topics.

The successful candidate will be based in London or Washington D.C. and will need to be in the office a minimum of two days a week. It is a requirement for this role that the successful candidate has, or obtains, the right to live and work in the UK or in the US.
US Candidates:
Starting salary – $66,000 annually.
The organization is working hybrid will all staff required to be in the office two days per week. CGD is registered to employ staff living in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Candidates must be able to live and work in one of these locations to be considered.
